Curatorial Tools – Exhibition – Internet - Streaming Technologies
In the exhibition and presentation segment of the project the partners have compiled exemplary applica-tions and presentation forms for electronic media art and cultural content in a digital age.
Real exhibition situations are compared with virtual presentation spaces. Within the physical exhibition context the so called curatorial tools are utilised. They offer flexible presentations modes.
In different on-line presentations and a series of events the OASIS Consortium has tried out and demonstrated such settings. In addition the OASIS Platform contains an archive-oriented prototype for referencing and presentation of electronic art.
The technological foundations for this development are based on streaming media technologies, which are therefore discussed immediately at the beginning of this chapter.
In relation to streaming technologies the attention to the time factor has to be additionally considered to the visual appearance of the video material. Therefore the technological re-quirements differ from those elaborated on for the codec tests - despite some specific tech-nological settings obviously already having implicitly been adhered to. The scope of techno-logical possibilities is usually restricted by the selection of streaming server and the utilised operating system.
