Long night of Information Technologies

HfG: July 2006

The OASIS Archive was also presented at the „Long Night of Information Technologies“ by the HfG on July 14th 2006. It is a three-year international cooperation project funded by the EU in the "Kultur 2000" Program, running until mid-2007. In the scope of this event a small exhibition had been organised, which presented different developments in the Karlsruhe technology region. At this exhibition a terminal about OASIS was shown, which the HfG had set up.

The project lead was held by the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe (HfG). The aim is the preservation of European cultural heritage in the field of electronic art.

For this via a special middleware comparable to a Peer-to-Peer network, existing digital media archives are connected. The system is to enable a comprehensive search in distributed database systems as well as the utilisation of multimedia content for an exhibition context. To this end curator for transmission of video and audio content is implemented.
